As of 12pm yesterday (9-17-10) Avery Rose has been ventilator free! That’s almost 19 hours as of this post! Although the CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) that they have to put her on as her next step forward looks like quite a contraption, it is made of lightweight foam and we’re sure is much more comfortable than the breathing tube.
So far, she is rockin’ on the CPAP and her blood gases and overall happiness level have actually been better since removed from the ventilator. Last night she tolerated all of her “hands-on” activities from her super nurse, Michelle, with flying colors. We are beaming with joy as we witness our “tiny warrior” perform yet another one of her miraculous feats.
Today (9-18) is Quin and I’s wedding anniversary, so this is a wonderful anniversary present. She’s already such a thoughtful girl.
Please continue to pray for Avery’s strength and lung development as she continues to tackle this amazing next step on her long journey home. As her Uncle Joaquin would say, she’s operating “full gusto” and demonstrating “no slack!”
